BALLET BALLADS
MUSICAL HIGHLIGHTS
One of the seminal works of the American musical theater, Ballet Ballads was the first collaboration of composer Jerome Moross and lyricist John Latouche. Its premiere in 1948 in New York City received consistently rave reviews and was heralded as a breakthrough in the genre. While the work is made up of four separate acts with distinctly different themes and stories, it has never been performed in its entirety. The vocal score features the music lyrics for all four acts: “Susanna and the Elders,” ” Willie the Weeper,” ” The Eccentricities of Davy Crockett” and “Riding Hood Revisited.”
